A buffalo is a river animal, twice as heavy as a cow, with a huge body and eyes, very wide body, which is useful for swimming. There is another strange thing in that after eating the fodder, the buffalo also grazes like a halal animal. This is because it used to bathe in the river bank and the river, then the people of the dry hills and plains were not aware of it. From the Caliphs, the Rashidun, and even the Companions, no Muslim had seen this river animal to decide whether it was a halal animal or a forbidden one. Even during the era of the buffalo was not presented to them whether this animal is halal or haram, but then when the population of the world increased a lot and the banks of the river and bat were settled by human settlement, this animal i.e. the buffalo was seen and caught apparently. The buffalo is a hideous black and thick animal. Among the Muslims of that time, there was a confusion whether it was a small elephant or a big one. Soar, then it is haram. Fatwa of Imam Abu Hanifah
The people of Bat made the idol of Imam Abu Hanifah, who had the shape of a buffalo and was heavy in body. They eat camels and goats, but it is three times bigger than a normal cow. It also eats three times more fodder than a cow, but its owner and mistress love humans and give good milk at the time of milking. Buffalo milk has three times more fat content. After hearing this, Imam Abu Hanifah replied that it is a very strange animal, but I cannot decide whether the buffalo is halal or haram without seeing it.
Finally, the buffalo was brought before the Imam
After a few days, the Muslim people of Bat appeared in the court of Imam Abu Hanifah, then the Imam ordered that he should be shouted in front of me. The milk was taken out and checked and the buffalo was fed in front of the Imam. The sleeping buffalo was picked up. It is not a cow, this is my fatwa that it is a halal animal from today all Muslims can drink its milk and sacrifice its calf. Its meat is halal. The buffalo is an ornament in every Muslim's home as a halal animal since then most of the world's milk, butter and ghee and its meat are used.
